FEATURES
  • Mean time between failures (MTBF) – 40,000 hours
  • Interleaved parallel operation of DC-DC converters
  • Ability to load share among multiple units
  • Monitoring of the RPS using digital signal processing implemented on an embedded microprocessor platform
  • Use of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) as power switching devices

DRS Pivotal Power's DC rectifier power supply (RPS) is intended for use on board combat ships.  Using the ship's 440 V, 60 Hz, 3 phase AC power conforming to Type 1 of MIL-STD-1399, Section 300, the RPS system provides output power at 28 VDC, adjustable from 26 V to 32 V, with a continuous current rating of 300 A.  The RPS is capable of providing up to 1000 A short term high starting currents.  The RPS also functions as a power conditioner of the ship service power by blocking the surges, spikes and the transients of the ship service power and maintaining stable voltage to the served equipment within specifications to assure their continued proper operation.  Multiple RPS can be connected in parallel to increase overall output power.
